The interface

MedJot's screen is four regions: a sidebar on the left, the form in the middle, the live report on the right, and a header across the top. A floating toolbox button sits over the form.

The sidebar (left)

Collapsible, and collapses automatically on a narrow screen. It holds:

New ReportClears the form and starts again. Asks for confirmation, because it cannot be undone.

Your account, membership and organisation branding also appear here.

The form (centre)

The scrollable middle column, holding the section components for the presentation type you have chosen. It is where you do the work: tap findings, type free text, open tools.

At the top sits the presentation type selector — Adult Medical, Child Medical, Mental Health, Cardiac Arrest.

The Live Preview (right)

The generated report, updating as you tap. It is a panel, not a modal, so you can watch the record forming while you assess.

  • Resizable, right down to nothing, by dragging its edge. On a narrow screen it becomes a separate view rather than a column.
  • Copy puts the report on the clipboard.
  • Export PDF produces the clinical PDF, and the reflective-practice export lives here too.
  • Lock freezes the text so you can edit it by hand; once locked, tapping findings no longer overwrites your edits.

See Copy and PDF export.

The header (top)

On the left, in one row: the report title, the elapsed time since the report was started, and the connection indicator — a globe showing green, amber or red. The clock survives a reload; it is stamped when the report stops being blank, not when the tab opened.

On the right: refer a colleague, upgrade, install, theme toggle and reset.

The connection indicator is permanent rather than appearing only when something is wrong, because "will the AI work if I ask right now" needs to be answerable at a glance. Tapping it re-checks the connection and opens a panel with the reason, your free-report or trial status, and any queued AI requests. See The connection indicator.

The floating toolbox

A draggable button at the bottom-left of the content area. It fans out into small tool windows — notepad, stopwatch, countdown timer, calculator, overdose calculator — several of which can be open at once, each draggable and minimisable.

Drag the button anywhere you like; MedJot remembers where you put it. See The floating toolbox.

Themes

Light, dark and additional themes, from the header toggle or Settings → General, where you can also set which theme MedJot starts in. See Settings.
